I HAD to add this :)

This is a blog that I follow....the inspiration here doesn't come from esthetics or good design.  It is a blog created by a mother a rather effeminate son.  If this dosn't inspire you to care just a little bit more or to appreciate the variety of people on this earth, well, you...suck :)

Zaha Hadid

One of the most prolific architects of this day, in my humble opinion, has to be Zaha Hadid.  Her designs are magnificent and almost surreal in nature.  She combines organic flow with modern lines and makes you wonder how in the HELL does someone could come up with this stuff!  At one time, her designs were considered too complicated to build...now I'm sure most people would be honoured to have her stamp of approval.  I want to show two buildings, one completed and the other shelved unfortunately.  Both are art galleries, fitting for the building in which they are housed.

Roca London Gallery (found on the Contemporist...click for link)

Proposed Vilnius, Lithuania Guggenheim Museum

Clicking on the links will show you way more photos...are they are damn good ;) In case you were wondering, this is the wonderful lady behind this work :

The Evil Witch

This image has been around the block more often than your proverbial mother but that doesn't mean it's any less spectacular. Just look into the eyes of this crazy old bat and you can almost feel a personality through all that rendered goodness.

So Picasso says to me...

Fitting first item.

Why, you ask?

I'm not sure why, but I love posting introductory entries to blogs.  I'm not sure if I feel as though I need to justify what I'm doing or if I just like to hear myself speak. Regardless, you are reading this so I win.

I've always considered myself an artist.  Yes, I create...I draw, I paint, I've sculpted, I create digital art, but that's not what I'm talking about.  To me, the word "artist" is a broad term that encompasses passion through creativity. Anyone who is willing to invest themselves into something that isn't asked of them solely because of enjoyment is an artist. Losing yourself in something you love is being an artist.  Unconsciously smiling because of what you create is being an artist. What, I believe, blocks true creativity is lack of inspiration! We are so bogged down by the day-to-day, the "reasonable", the "safe", that we forget to think for ourselves and take the time to let the inspiration in.

This blog is my way of turning off the auto-pilot.  Of taking the time to be inspired. Of connecting to my own creativity.  Hopefully to yours too.
